“Our company was formed and legally registered for business transactions on 2015 AD. We are primarily an art business, but we actively promote Newari and contemporary Paubha painting with a ''spiritual dimension''
I am Sanam Shakya, a 22nd generation descendant of the founder of the world-renowned Mahabuddha Temple in Lalitpur. My life’s work is a reflection of this profound lineage, a journey dedicated to the intersection of Buddhist philosophy and the sacred arts of Nepal. I had the honor of representing Nepal and delivering a presentation on the “Asian Buddhist Heritage Forum and Art Exhition 2025” at Komyoji Temple, Susono City, Japan.
As a co-founder of The Spiritual Arts, I have combined my academic background, a Masters in Applied Buddhism, with a lifelong devotion to Newari and contemporary Paubha painting. My path has been one of both reflection and action, from spearheading the Young Men’s Buddhist Association Nepal (YMBA) in my youth to my current role as Vice President of World Fellowship of Buddhists Youth (WFBY) and YMBA Nepal, I strive to ensure that Buddhist art remains a living, breathing tradition.
I believe that "Buddhism can be the trademark of a new Nepal" Whether through our galleries in Boudha and Thaina or our international exhibitions, our goal is to provide a space where the "spiritual dimension" of art is accessible to all.
"Nothing can be achieved except by positive action" I invite you all to join us in this vision, explore our growing archive of masterworks, or collaborate on a unique commission that speaks to your own spiritual journey.
We stock a growing archive of Paubha, Thangka and contemporary art from established 'experts' and the up and coming younger generations. Commissions can be arranged.
Please contact me to arrange a visit so that I can prepare work for you to view. We are open 8am to 8pm in Boudha Gallery and Thaina Gallery, Lalitpur.
